Thursday

It's Garbage Day!

40 degrees and overcast.

From WKTV: "Good morning Central New York! After a beautiful stretch of weather, things will look and feel a lot different today. Cooler and cloudy weather is expected today with rain later in the day. A mild start to the day! Unfortunately, temperatures aren't going to improve all that much heading into the day. Clouds and a few sprinkles are possible this morning. Plan on bringing that umbrella to work or school this morning, because we are expecting some rain later on this afternoon. Temperatures will climb into the upper 40s in the early afternoon before the rain moves in. A weak area of low pressure will give us that rain, starting as early as 3 PM and lasting through the good portion of the night. Total rainfall is expected to be rather light, only about a quarter inch. This is not enough to cause flooding.

Improving conditions throughout the day on Friday. It will start out cloudy and damp, but drier air will help scour out the low clouds by the afternoon."

In this morning's online edition of the Observer-Dispatch, I've found the obituary for a lovely lady, and longtime resident of Waterville, Rhelda Lapham - age 83.

It was a grand day, yesterday, and there was a grand sight on Putnam Street: the Persons' crocus are blooming!

(After years of debate and uncertainty:
the plural of "crocus" is either "crocuses" or "crocus!")

Farther up the street, Jim Hart was being super-industrious!

There's a beautiful Spring bouquet on the Stephensons' door.

Walkers were out, everywhere ........

........... both the two- .....

........... and four-footed varieties!

For every walker, it seemed that there was a Boy on a Bike:

........ some more daring .......

......... or flashier than others!

On Tuesday afternoon Nancy Ayala wrote to say that she'd seen Snow Geese up next to Snowden Hill Road near Paris Green. They were gone when I got there, but a nearby swamp was playing host to Canada Geese.

When I took my car to Den Kelly's for servicing, yesterday, I went out to Woodman Pond just to see what was holding up the beaver-gnawed tree on the opposite side of Woodman Road --- it's a standing tree that will be there until the beavers figure out what to do! BUT the other thing that I saw on the smaller pond was a surprise and delight!

A list of everything to do this weekend,

and

a Surprising Announcement.

Have a Great Day, Everyone!
