"Soft Serve Season" starts today at "Roc's!"

Robert (a.k.a. "Roc") Langone, at Roc-Star Ice Cream and Eatery on Sanger Avenue, has been working on his soft serve ice cream machine and will have it up and running when he opens up at 11 am.

From WKTV: "Good morning Central New York! A foggy start to the day, but we expect big improvements by the afternoon. Morning fog will continue through about 9AM across the region. As we head into the day, the weather will gradually improve. We'll turn mostly sunny by the afternoon, with temperatures topping off in the mid 50s. Some clouds will move in tonight, with overnight lows near 40.

We're watching the next storm closely here over the weekend. An area of low pressure will develop in the Ohio River Valley, and impact our weather over the weekend. This storm is going to move slower than we originally anticipated, which means the forecast improves for Saturday. The rain is expected to hold off on Saturday, with some sunshine. Temperatures will approach 60 or better by the afternoon! The storm will move through on Sunday, with clouds and showers. Cooler weather is expected for Monday, but won't last for long."

The Waterville Eagles Pop Warner program

will hold its first registration of the year in conjunction with their annual

CHICKEN BARBECUE

at the Waterville Fire House.

Registration for area youth interested in participating in either football or cheerleading is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 13 by July 31, 2009 are eligible to participate in one of four levels of play. Registration fees range from $35 to $45.

The chicken barbeque, with chicken prepared by members and friends of the Waterville Fire Department, is open to the public and begins at noon.

Tickets go on sale at 11:30 a.m.
