and also to

JACOB NEFF

who will be 7 on the 7th!

************************

It's 32 degrees F. / 0 degrees C. and overcast
just a bit of snow, here and there.

From WKTV: 'Good morning Central New York! A little taste of winter today, with chilly weather and snow flurries. A cold night tonight, and then some big changes as we head into the weekend.
Snow flurries will linger into the morning hours today, with very light accumulations. Starting out the day in the low 30s. Make sure the kids bring the winter jacket heading off to school today.

Flurries will last through the morning hours, and will gradually end before the afternoon. Mostly cloudy today, with highs only near 40 degrees! Drier weather moves in by the afternoon, with a peak or two of sunshine late in the day not out of the question.

As high pressure builds in tonight, skies will clear out. With temperatures already chilly before sunset, temperatures will be in position to fall quite a bit tonight. Overnight lows in the upper teens to low 20s! That's near record cold!

Starting out Saturday morning with a bit of freezing fog. This won't last long. Partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 40s to near 50 degrees. Warmer weather by Sunday and more sunshine as high pressure crests overhead. Highs on Sunday in the upper 50s.

The warmup continues Monday and Tuesday, with highs in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees! The next chance of precipitation is expected late Tuesday, with some rain as a cold front advances. Chilly weather again by Wednesday, with perhaps a mix of rain and more snow showers."

IN THE MAIL

from Kelly Belouin: "The Jr. Pee Wee Pop Warner Football Team is still in the PLAYOFFS and will be playing at home this Sunday at 2:00. Come support our boys!"

*********************

from both Cindy Gallagher and Tammy Graves:

Invitation for "Dairy Does D.C. in December"

When: Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009 Where: Washington, D.C.

Who: All Dairy Crisis Interested Parties (farmers, Holstein Association USA, FoodDemocracy Now, Food and Water Watch, Food Declaration, National Family Farm Coalition, Chambers of Commerce, Land Trusts, National Farmers Union, Pro-Ag, Family Farm Defenders, Moms Rising, FFA, agribusiness, financing sectors, students, consumers, Slow Food USA)

Why: To have a coast-to-coast, coordinated effort and steadfast presence to gain national attention and meet with our state representatives. Washington D.C. does not understand that the dairy economy is hovering on the brink of collapse. There has never been a better time to send someone from your farm or family to D.C. to deliver a firm message calling for action to secure a future in dairy farming instead of a financial collapse.

Why Background:
Dairy farmers know their dues-taking organizations are not acting with conviction for them – the dues-paying members.

Who is coming with us? RSVP Sun., Nov. 8 Want to learn more? Please email us.
RSVP or learn more by contacting, Bryan Gotham, blcgotham@yahoo.com. Find him on Facebook too.

Background:
A conference call of over 40 dairy crisis interested individuals from coast to coast occurred on Monday, Nov. 2 to discuss Dairy Does D.C. in December. This invitation is to find out who wants to go. After we have gauged the interest at end of day Sunday, Nov. 8, we will have another planning conference call on Nov. 9. Below is the draft framework of tasks.

Steps with Tasks and Goals
1. Measure participation interest in Dairy does D.C. in December to occur Wed., December 2nd. Planning will halt if response is weak.
2. Establish state leaders to organize buses and fundraising for bus expense. New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia organizers will provide guidance as they did this back in July.
3. Goal: 1 bus from each of the 23 major dairy states. This would be over 1000 farmers. Consumers are also encourage to go.
4. Set-up appointments with representatives for Wed., December 2, 2009

We look forward to hearing from you."

Who'd have guessed .............

............ that this would be so traumatic!

(No! Not the Election Results!)

This is my last blog post with my trusty old 2002 iMac! It's about to be unplugged and taken to "Connecting Point," in New Hartford, where seven years' worth of words and pictures will be moved to a brand new computer.

(Yes, the old one will come back home, too, but I still feel as if I've abandoned an old friend.)

I don't kow how long it will be before the new iMac will be functioning, so blog posts may be haphazard for the rest of the week.

From WKTV: "Cloudy and generally dry to start out the morning. Temperatures are above freezing, in the upper 30s and low 40s, so no frost to chip off the car this morning. Some sprinkles are possible at any point through the morning as a wam front passes through the area.
"A cold front moves in early this afternoon, bringing with it some scattered rain showers. Temperatures stay in the 40s this afternoon. Once the front crosses the area, the winds will pick up. Sustained winds after the front crosses will be 10-20mph with gusts over 25mph. Winds die down this evening, with perhaps a leftover sprinkle. Overnight lows in the low 30s.
A mix of sunshine and clouds on Wednesday, but cooler with highs in the mid 40s.
Another storm system will draw even cooler air into the region. A mix of rain and snow showers are expected on Thursday and Friday, with little or no accumulation expected. Highs both days only in the low 40s!"

SPECIAL!

PLEASE HELP FIND "OLIVE!"

From Nicki Suba

"Yesterday our one year old black lab Olive slipped out around 2 pm when we weren't home. She left with our 2nd black lab but he came back at around 6 pm. We traveled the roads all night calling and looking but nothing. I am hoping your readers have seen her and can help us get Olive back to us, we really miss her. Jack came back from behind our house here on Hanover so we are hoping she is somewhere back there.
She is a midsize dog, around 60 pounds, all black with one white toe on her back foot and wearing a blue collar. If anyone has seen her, please call 272-9339 (my cell) or 361-3422 (Brian @ work).
