CRISIS AVERTED!
Special Notice re: Garbage Pickup.
Special Notice re: Garbage Pickup.
According to DPW Superintendent Jamie Bechy, the Village garbage truck, "Big Orange," broke down on the way to Utica yesterday morning but "as of 9:30 Wednesday night, he had been fixed."
Garbage Pickup will happen today, but, because recyclables will have to be unloaded in Utica first, today's scheduled pickup will be a bit late.

I wasn't the only one tricked by the new signs: all afternoon, motorists circled the Park hoping that, at any minute, the Farmers Market would magically appear!
It won't be by magic, but the vendors WILL be there next Wednesday from 11:00 - 5:00.

With a five-man crew and good weather, the paint job on this house on White Street should be finished in no time!
Now blooming: Black Locust trees (Robinia pseudoacacia)
Oriental Poppies!
"Sweet Rocket" or "Dame's Rocket"
Hesperis matronalis - often confused with native Phlox species that also have similar large showy flower clusters. They can be distinguished from each other by foliage and flower differences; Dame's rocket has alternately arranged leaves and four petals per flower, like mustard, while phlox have opposite leaves and five petals.
Discovered yesterday. It's not a humming bird nest, but it's nearly that small and it's in the same lilac bush!
Any guesses who built it?

Have a great Day, Everyone!
The WKTV Forecast for the next few days: "Nice weather will hold for the day today, but some clouds and rain may try to work back in for Friday.
We're still watching that same frontal boundary to the south, which has been there for the majority of the week. So far, we've managed to stay just far enough north of the front to evade showers but not clouds. Today, the front drifts far enough south for Central New York to see a nice and sunny day! Expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the low 70s. Clear skies here for most of the night, with clouds arriving late. Overnight lows in the mid 40s.
Tropical moisture will combine with the front tonight and tomorrow. This will force the front to lift north, and back into Central New York. Our computer models are trying to play catchup with this new development, and we believe that there's a good chance for rain Friday afternoon, especially south of route 20. This rain won't last long though, and whatever we do see will be long gone by the weekend.
Sunshine both Saturday and Sunday. Highs in the mid 70s. An isolated thunderstorm is possible late in the day on Sunday, otherwise the weekend is expected to be dry."
