But now it's Monday Morning!

Yesterday, on Route 315 across from Shanley Road.

*******************************

Today is Garbage Day

32 degrees and starry-clear.

From WKTV: "A frosty start to Monday morning! Bring the jacket with you heading out the door this morning. Temperatures starting out in the upper 20's and low 30's.

High pressure in control today will bring bountiful sunshine throughout Central New York. High temperatures in the upper 50's. Clear skies tonight, with overnight lows in the mid 30's.

Dry, seasonable weather continues for Tuesday with mostly sunny skies in the morning but an increase in clouds by the afternoon as a storm system begins to approach from the Midwest. Rain doesn't look to arrive until after sunset on Tuesday and continue into Wednesday.

There looks to be a quick warm up on Thursday, with highs in the low 60s, before another storm system moves in Saturday, dragging in some rain just in time for Halloween. Also, don't forget to change your clocks Saturday night at 2am as Daylight Saving Times ends and we 'fall back' an hour."

The Utica College men’s hockey team lost to the U.S. National Under-18 team 10-1 in an exhibition match in front of 3,677 fans on opening night at the Utica Memorial Auditorium Friday.

On Saturday it was Notre Dame 26, Waterville 0.

Syracuse beat Akron 28-14 on Saturday to snap a two-game losing streak.

Game 6 of the ALCS was rained out on Saturday and delayed 'til last night:

AND THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED, THEN!

The Yankees took the AL Pennant for the 40th time!!!

CONGRATULATIONS

to Eagle Scout Alec Strohmeyer

who received that award at a Court of Honor on Sunday afternoon.

CHEERS, as well, for

Tracy Lynn Olivera

who made her Broadway debut Friday night at the Neil Simon theater in the musical

RAGTIME!

Here she is with her custom made "Broadway Debut Zookey" outside the Neil Simon Theater ........

.......... and with her mother, Leslie Olivera-VanWormer, after the show.

Leslie sent me a note, saying: "The show was AMAZING - packed house and wonderful audience - standing ovation before the final curtain came down - we are so proud! The music to this show is so beautiful and the leads are all tremendous. Tracy is in most every scene singing in the ensemble - and has a few lines also as Brigit the maid (all delivered perfectly!) In Tracy's bio in the Playbill it ends with 'For Evan and Waterville, grateful and humbled.' I think that says it all about her. It was just perfect."

An audience on wheels followed another sort of show next to Skyline Drive on Sunday morning.

Twice each autumn the Limestone Creek Hunt Club of Cazenovia hunts the hill west of Route 12B. Yesterday was the first hunt - the second will take place next Sunday and will start from the junction of Skyline Drive and Reservoir Road at about 10:00.

The view from Skyline Drive is really spectacular, but the wind was so bitter that my eyes kept watering. I couldn't tell where to aim my camera!

The "drag" --- leaving a trail of scent, instead of a fox --- for the hounds to follow.

The dogs get "treats," .........

And the entire display is a visual treat for the spectators, too!

Meanwhile, on the other side of the World, at the Giza Plateau outside Cairo, Egypt ....... Glen Carroll's steed isn't going very fast, and Glen isn't going anywhere until ......

" 'Welcome Mister. No, no charge for. You free. Mister
I have 3 children can you help them?'

Yeah, I guess so if I want to get off this dang camel!"

"I'm wondering if anything has changed here since you were here*. It is quite a change to go from the Gulf States to Egypt. It as if time has stood still. I think 80% of the cars are older than 20 years old. The taxi I rode in today was a 1972 Fiat! And... boy it looked it."

*That was in 1988. My camel was prettier!

The Sphinx never changes.

The re-assembled Khufu Boat, about 4,500 years old.

In this morning's Email: "The drivers believe in only one rule. Go forward. Roads built for two lanes typically carry 4 lanes of cars. All separated by inches. My taxi driver was going over 60 with a car so close that he was chatting with the guy in the next car!!! But even with that I've only seen one accident in 2 days. My taxi last night had no lights. He said "don't worry Mister many lights on all other car." And motorcyclists!!!! 60 mph weaving in and out missing by a breath and NO helmet. Not that a helmet would help. If they go down the next several cars would run him over. Just past a motorcycle with 5 people on it!! 4 adults and a child!!"

To answer Glen's question: No -- nothing's changed!!

I remember that motorists, speeding through the city at night, without headlights, simply leaned on their horns as they approached an intersection!

Looking as if they'd just tried to cross a street in Cairo, their faces ashen and fake blood pouring from multiple fake wounds, they slouched; they staggered. They moaned and groaned ..........

but they couldn't help smiling when they saw the camera:
even Zombies show a little bit of life!!

***************

It had rained and rained, Saturday morning, but cleared off enough for the Zombie Walk to take place in the late afternoon. I have not received any reports from participants - perhaps someone will let me know how the food drive and the "after party" went?

******

FOR TONIGHT

TOMORROW:

A HOUSE OF STRAW!

Have a good day, everyone!
