It's Garbage Day!

The WKTV forecast: "Gorgeous weather continues for Monday with plenty of sunshine in the morning.Winds will continue to be in the southerly direction tomorrow, bringing above normal temperatures into the region with highs in the upper 70s. Clouds will increase late in the afternoon as a storm system approaches the region. Rain looks to hold off until Monday night into Tuesday morning. Dry weather is expected as we head into next week, with a few showers by Tuesday."

You had to see it to believe it!
If it were possible for Waterville to have "burst its seams," it surely woud have happened on Saturday, at the Fourth Annual "Cruisin in to Waterville!"
Main Street was mobbed.
Cars were parked on both sides of Madison and Tower Streets as far as Terry Place;
both sies of White Street out to the railway tracks and Barton Avenue? Forget it!

The day had started out at 34 degrees.
The first place that I went was the Quilt Show, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church.
My camera had been in my car all night long and either it was still cold from the exposure or it shivered - as the rest of us did - when we saw Patty Louise come in dressed in shorts!
I headed right for a wall hanging by Carol Sambora -- a piece with a warm-looking southwestern sunrise --
........... and then joined Millie Hammond and others perusing the rest of the sixty-some quilts on display.
Some I had seen before, at larger quilt shows, and these - made by the late Miss Margaret Cleary - were borrowed from the Historical Society.
Proceeds from the exhibit benefited the St. Bernard's Church Building Fund.

Then up to the Park, of course, to see how the bandstand was working: the "Cleffdwellers" were already playing and Yes!! the sound was grand!
I went back, later on, to hear "All Tuned Up," enjoying the unusual sound-mixture of guitars, percussion and Lisa Davis' magical flute.
There were plenty of other things going on, there:
I stopped at the Petting Zoo to take a picture of a pretty litttle girl hold a bunny who was squinting in the sun.
Along came another pretty girl (Wendy Cole Woodward) who posed with the same bunny!
I had to wait for a lull in foot traffic to admire Susy Q's "Zookey" tent.
On my way out of the Park I met these girls, cheerfully promoting
an AYSO Benefit, which I'll check out today.
Downtown, another stage; more music .........
........... and another wait for a clear shot at the Garden Club's "booth."
Driving from point A to point B was tedius and, for many, Clinton Tractor's hay wagon style "trolley" saved the day!
I took the "scenic route" from the Library to the Firemen's Field, where smoke billowed from what could be termed the most delicious "controlled burn" of the season .......
............. and settled over the busy ballfield.
At the Firemen's Pavilion, there was a long line of folks hungry for Chicken Barbecue long before noon!
Back on Main Street ........
...... hundreds browsed and shopped and lined up to wait for the parade.

It will be interesting to see if the Police give a crowd estimate.
It was BIG!

I don't know how it was done, but by the time I got to the village, yesterday, you'd never have guess what had gone on there 24 hours earlier: not a soda can or scrap of paper remained.
BRAVO!
Young people sometimes complain of "bad hair days." I've reached the age of "bad back days," so did not attend the barbecue, chili cookoff (no parking; no trolley service.) or even the Alumni-Community Dinner in the evening.
